TP-Link AV 1000
Does it work and how far?
I've been quite keen to add a Garden Office to Castle Beanz, but have always been wary of how effective HomePug solutions would be and whether they would provide the connectivity I need to make outside working a possibility.
This particular device - the TP-Link AV1000 Gigabit claims to provide 1GB Ethernet connectivity around your house utilising your existing electric wiring circuits. Although there a re plenty of review and install videos across the web I had struggled to find an answer to my specific question, could I run this through an extension cable 70m/200ft from my house. I attempted to apply some sort of scientific methodology - using a single piece of equipment, an old Lenovo Thinkpad, and testing in in 5 different scenarios.

To cut a long story short here's the results:

Across the five wired connection scenarios there was a less than 10% drop between being plugged direct in to my router and c 70m/200ft from it (the cable was 50m/165ft but the plug socket used was c 8m/25ft from the router).

I have entered a link below for purchasing this particular piece of kit from Amazon, although it's seems to have shot up in price since I purchased this in April 2020.

So, pretty conclusive proof that these things work and work well. Youtube video below, have a gander and see what you think.
