I blogged a few weeks ago that I would be releasing videos on You Tube for the first time and went on to trail my first attempt upgrading an old office machine.....
Since that blog post I have been focusing on video content to the detriment of the companion site I set up - I simply hadn't realised just how much effort is involved in creating content - especially if you have any aspiration to make it slick and professional. Video recording formats, cameras, microphones are hugely more complex when you are concerned about the quality and learning to edit video (Davinci Resolve - free), sound (Audacity - free), 3D modelling (Blender - free) and some photo editing (GIMP - free) has been a huge learning curve.
I've now managed to create and publish 4 videos, the first was a real stinker - but I had to start publishing content somewhere, and the others have at least been viewed! I've enjoyed it immensely and wonder why it took me so long to start doing this.
The lesson I have learnt is to try and keep on top of documenting all that work on this site, the plan was always to provide write ups of the video covering my own thoughts behind the content and providing detail that it is better suited to a written medium. So that's what I'll be doing this week, a bit of admin catch up, and then hopefully this site can operate in tandem with the channel - as I had always envisioned.
Perhaps in a few months I can write a follow up setting out how the first three months have gone? I'll commit to it in writing now - in October (2020) I'll write a blog of my successes and failures in my first quarter as a You Tube Creator!
