First build for Youtube - decisions decisions....

I've been looking to build a new PC for some time, with countless hours adding and changing builds in PC Partpicker I thought I had landed on my preferred build (still fine tuning.....). Then, we get the announcements on AMD 3100/3300x, new B550 motherboards and the new Intel 10th gen - which now has six core/12 thread i5s - what to do?

Although the release date is tomorrow (8 May 2020) for the new Ryzen processors we're unlikely to be seeing them available to us mere mortal consumers much before the last week of May, and the new B550 motherboards not 'til early June. So do I build the PC I have in my cart or wait until the new stuff releases?

This seems to me to be the perennial issue for PC gamers, (as long as you can afford it) when is it worth upgrading when you always think something better will be releasing in a month or two? I still think the 3600(x) gives me the gaming and multithread performance for editing I would like, but the 3300x could give me the gaming performance and free up some cash for that new motherboard (B550 will inevitably cost more than the current B450 gen boards) which probably gives me a better upgrade path. Then there is Intel - if the price point is right that might give me a gaming boost and 6/12 multi threading with i5.

And all of this is complicated by a desire to launch relevant content on Youtube. By the time I get my hand on the kit those with early access would have cleaned up, providing us all the benchmarks and advice we need - which I'm not knocking, I've relied on them for years. This is great in that I can sit back and let others do the heavy lifting - but then what can I add to the debate?

I'll procrastinate for another day and see what the reviews of 3100/3300x uncover - then I'll commit, I'm sure of it...
